Network Management
The Network coordinator, from EMPA, will be in overall charge of the Network. Johann Michler has acted as Network coordinator until March 5th 2010. Due to EMPA internal restructuring, he asked Gerardo Gamez, EMPA, to take over this task. A Network Administrator deals with day to day management (administrative and financial management).
Assembly: The Assembly, chaired by the Coordinator, is the final decision making body for strategic issues, which meets in person at least yearly (at a Network Meeting) or whenever necessary. The Assembly is informed/consulted by e-mail after each meeting of the Steering Committee. It validates the propositions of the Steering Committee about the reorientation of the research projects and transfer of knowledge, and about the improvement of the training program.

Steering Committee: A Steering Committee (SC) has been set up, composed of about 7 members. It will include the "Theme coordinators" as well as the Recruitment, Training and Knowledge managers, chaired by the Network coordinator. The Network Manager acts as Secretary of the Steering Committee. At their first meeting, the SC decided on a Vice-Chair (Prof. E. Steers). It meets at least every six months. The main role of the steering committee is to apply final decisions taken by the Assembly. Moreover the Steering Committee makes decisions on operational management, in consultation with the partners concerned where appropriate, and recommends decisions on major questions to the Assembly. It will co-ordinate and arbitrate discussion between the partners concerned on knowledge management. The Steering Committee also reviews policy and strategies of exploitation and publicity, in particular with regard to the release of project information outside the consortium. The Network coordinator, also being a member of the EMDPA project, acts as link to the EMDPA project co-ordinating common projects such as joint meetings, participation to training courses and joint dissemination efforts.
Training Manager: The Training Manager is responsible for all aspects of the training programme, Network Training Courses, registration requirements for PhD students, general Network-wide availability of training material from individual partners, the use of the website for training, mentoring, Personal Career Development. The Training Manager chairs a Training Group that will include elected representatives of the ESR and ER, to ensure that the appointed Fellows are fully involved in the development of the Training Programme. Prof Edward Steers, from London Metropolitan University, is GLADNET training manager.
Project teams: The steering committee will appoint a Project team for each individual research project consisting of the ESR or ER working on the project, the line manager or academic supervisor and relevant staff in the group.
Trainees Representative: At the GLADNET meeting in Brussels in Sept. 2007 Petr Smid, currently working as a GLADNET ER at London Metropolitan University has been elected to represent the GLADNET trainees at the GLADNET steering committee. During the Belgrade training course Petr Smid stepped down as trainee representantive. Varvara Efimova and Deborah Alberts were elected as a trainees representative. They also give a voice to the trainees in the training committee (DA) and the steering commitee (VE/SM). During the Budapest meeting, Sohail Mushtaq
was elected to represent the trainees at the steering commitee.
